AZAMGARH FILM FESTIVAL

The first Azamgarh Film Festival happened from 14-15 July 2012. The fifth edition of the festival took place in 2017.Arundhati Roy, Sanjay Kak, Nagraj Manjule, Rahul Roy, Saba Dewan, Mohammad Ghani, Ektara Collective and Nakul Sawhney have participated in the festival. Sanjay Mattoo and Saman Habib did a performance of Lucknow in Letters at the festival. The festival is a unique event in Azamgarh and there is a a considerable participation of women. Some of the important films that were screened at the festival include Kya hua is shaharko?, Had Anhad, Bidesia in Bambai, Gulabi Gang and Turup. Ashok Bhowmick has conducted his lecture demonstration on progressive painters at the festival. The main organizers of the festival are Doctor Vinay Singh Yadav, Durga Singh, Jaiprakash Narayan, Ramesh Kumar and Vijay Bahadur Rai
