Banaras Film Festival

The first edition of the Banaras Film Festival took place from 31March -1 April 2012. Four editions of the festival have taken place so far. Two young IT students Abhinav Bhansal and Ankur attended the 2011 Allahabad festival and they initiated the first Benares Film Festival. They used the organizing skills that they learnt at the Allahabad festival to come up with the BenaresFim Festival. Students have played a major role in organizing the festival and it saw considerable participation from the youth. Film makers like Nakul Sawhney, Saba Dewan, Rahul Roy and Biju Toppo have participated in the festival. Sanjay Mattoo has conducted children’s sessions at the festival. Many important films including Mati Ke Laal, IzzatnagarikiAsabhyaBetiyan and Skin Deep were screened at the festival.
