Allahabad film festival

The first edition of Allahabad film festival happened from 6-8 December 2011. Renowned filmmakers Iffat Fatima, Bela Negi and Girish Kasaravalli participated in the festival. Several key films including Where Have You Hidden My New Moon Crescent?,DaayenYaBaayen and Gulabi Talkies were screened at the festival. The festival was organized at Allahabad University and there was a good participation of the youth at the festival. Two halls had to be arranged during the festival because all the audience members could not fit into one hall. Girish Kasaravalli gave a speech about the concept behind cinema of resistance at the main auditorium and then he gave a shorter version of the same speech at the second screening space on public demand. The screening of films at two halls were synced through claps. There was an exhibition of world cinema posters at the festival. The main organisers of the festival were Ankur Raiand K.K.Pandey
