Udaipur Film Festival

The first Udaipur Film Festival took place from 14-15 September 2013. The seventh edition of the festival took place in February 2020. Several important filmmakers like Anand Patwardhan, Bela Negi, Surya Sankar Das, Sanjay Kak, Yousuf Saeed, Mohamad Ghani , Uma Chakravarty and RandeepMaddoke have participated in the festival. Standup comedy by Varun Grover, Sanjay Mattoo and Saman Habib’ s performance Lucknow letters, Mahavir Agarwal and Mukesh Bijole’s painting exhibition etc were some important highlights from the festival. Udaipur Film Society made the film Agnishikha on the issue of honour killings. The 2016 edition of the festival which was named in the memory of Rohit Vemula faced opposition from the state government. Though Rajasthan Agricultural University was booked as the venue and full fee was paid in advance, the booking was cancelled a day before the scheduled start of the festival. The festival eventually took place at an alternate venue. Some of the important films that were screened at the festival were Lynch Nation, Landless, Factory, Other song, Jai Bhim Comrade, Kaid, Nuclear Hallucinations,Muzaffar Nagar BakiHe, IzzatnagarkiAsabhyaBetiyan, Khoon Di Baaravand We Have Not Come Here to Die. The key organizers of the festival are Himanshu Pandya,Pragya Joshi, Rinku Parihar, Shankar Lal Chowdhary, Shailendra Pratap Singh Bhatti, Dharmraj Joshi and Megha Chowdhary.
